Probably Funding ratings at a glance
Across 990 ratings, customers give Probably Funding an average of 4.8 stars out of 5, and 21 of those customers also wrote detailed reviews that appear on this page.
A star average is a useful headline, but it hides the detail that actually helps you decide. So we publish the written reviews in full, including the three- and four-star ones, and we explain below how the numbers were gathered. The 990 ratings come from people who submitted a personal loan request through our form and then answered a short follow-up survey. The 21 written reviews come from the subset who chose to add comments and agreed to have their first name, last initial and city shown.
It helps to be precise about what is being rated. Probably Funding is a free connector, not a lender. We take the details you enter once and pass them to participating lenders, who each decide whether to make an offer and set every rate, fee and term. So when a reviewer praises a quick personal loan deposit or complains about an APR, part of what they are describing is the lender's work, not ours. We still publish those comments, because they reflect the full experience a borrower has after starting with us, and because hiding them would make this page less useful to you.
Roughly speaking, the written reviews break down like this: most are five stars, a handful are four stars, and one is three stars. The written Probably Funding reviews average a little under the full 4.8, which is normal; people with a specific complaint are more likely to write a paragraph than people who simply got what they expected.
How we collect reviews
We invite every person who submits a request to rate the experience, whether or not they received or accepted an offer, and we do not pay for reviews, filter out low scores or offer rewards for five stars.
The invitation goes out by email a few days after a request, which gives enough time for a lender to fund a personal loan if the borrower accepted one. The survey asks for a one-to-five star score and offers an optional comment box. That is it. We do not ask leading questions such as "How much did you love your experience?" and we do not send a second nudge to people who gave a low score in hopes they will change it.
Three rules keep the process honest:
- Everyone is asked. The invitation is sent to people who were declined, people who compared personal loan offers and walked away, and people who took a personal loan. Only asking the people who got funded would inflate the average.
- No incentives. Nobody receives a gift card, entry into a drawing or a rate discount for leaving a review of any score.
- No selective publishing. Every rating counts toward the average. Written comments are only withheld if they contain personal data such as an account number, abusive language, or claims about a different company entirely.
We edit written reviews only to remove personal details and fix obvious typos that change meaning. We never rewrite a reviewer's opinion, and we never soften a complaint. If a reviewer later asks us to take their review down, we remove it and update the count.

What customers mention most
The recurring themes are speed, plain language, being able to compare offers without a hard credit pull, and, on the critical side, origination fees, fewer offers than expected in some states, and follow-up contact from lenders.
Reading all 21 written personal loan reviews together, a clear pattern shows up. The most common positive comment is about time: many reviewers say the form took under ten minutes and that funds arrived within one to three business days after they accepted a lender's offer. People looking for fast personal loan funding for a broken furnace or an emergency vet visit tend to mention this first.
The second theme is tone. Reviewers repeatedly say they appreciated being told an offer was likely but never promised, and that there were no countdown timers or pushy upsells. Several mention that Probably Funding said up front it is not the lender. That honesty matters to us, and it is nice to see it noticed.
The third theme is the soft-inquiry step. Personal loan shoppers worried about their credit score like that prequalified offers typically rely on a soft credit inquiry, with a hard pull only when they move forward with one lender.
On the critical side, three issues come up:
- Origination fees. Greg in Toledo noticed a 6% fee deducted from his deposit and chose a different lender. That is exactly the right move, and it is why we tell every personal loan reader to compare APR, not just the rate.
- Fewer offers than expected. Rachel in Boise received a single offer. Lender coverage varies by state, and thinner credit files attract fewer personal loan offers.
- Follow-up contact. Brian in Louisville heard from a lender he did not pick. When you submit a request, the details go to lenders in the network so they can review it, and some reach out. Our privacy policy explains this, and you can ask any lender to stop contacting you.
What reviewers say by loan category
Reviews are spread across all four of our categories, and the comments differ in useful ways: consolidation borrowers talk about monthly savings, pet owners about speed during an emergency, and homeowners about getting a repair done before damage spread.
People who requested a general personal loan often used it for car repairs, dental bills or a gap between jobs. Their personal loan reviews focus on the clarity of the offer screen and how easy it was to see APR, term and monthly payment together.
Reviewers in the debt consolidation group mention concrete results: one payment instead of four, a known payoff month, and in Tomás's case a big drop in card utilization. Those gains depend on the new APR being lower than what the cards charged, and on not running the cards back up afterward.
Pet owners who used our pet care loans page write about swallowed socks, urinary blockages and dental extractions. Their reviews tend to be the most emotional and the most practical at once; the vet wanted payment at pickup, and a personal loan covered the gap while the pet recovered.
Homeowners who came through home repair loans describe urgent, specific fixes: a split pipe, a failed blower motor, a roof patch before a storm. These are small repairs paid for with a short personal loan, not renovations, and the amounts stay between roughly $1,000 and $2,500 in the written set.
How to read loan reviews critically
Treat any loan review, including ours, as one data point: look for specifics, check whether the reviewer is describing the matching service or the lender, and weigh the complaints more carefully than the praise.
Online reviews for personal loans and other financial products are uneven. Some sites only show hand-picked quotes. Others are flooded with one-line five-star posts that say nothing. A few practical checks help you separate signal from noise:
- Look for numbers. A review that mentions a $1,450 water heater quote or a two-day deposit is more believable than one that says "amazing service." Specifics are hard to fake and easy to compare against your own situation.
- Separate the connector from the lender. With any matching service, the personal loan rate, fee and funding speed come from the lender. If a review complains about an APR, ask whether a different lender would likely have offered better terms for that credit profile.
- Read the three-star reviews first. Mid-range reviews tend to be the most balanced, because the writer had both good and bad moments. Brian's review is a good example on this page. He got the personal loan he needed and still pointed out a real weak spot, which is the kind of balance you should look for.
- Check the spread. A page with only perfect scores should make you suspicious. Real services earn a few fours and threes, and Probably Funding is no exception.
- Match the situation to yours. A borrower with a 760 score asking for a $1,000 personal loan will have a different experience than someone with a 600 score asking for $4,000. Look for reviewers with a similar need.
Reviews also cannot tell you what your own offer will look like. For that, read our how it works page, run the numbers through the personal loan calculator, and look at the real lenders profiled on our compare lenders page. A reviewer's 18% APR tells you almost nothing about whether you will see 12% or 30%.
What we do with negative feedback
Every rating of three stars or lower is read by a person on our Columbus team, and the most common complaints have led to concrete changes in how the Probably Funding request process explains fees, lender contact and state coverage.
Low scores are the most useful thing a customer can send us, because they show where a personal loan request felt confusing or stressful. Here is what happens after one arrives:
- Someone reads it within two business days. If the reviewer left an email and asked for help, a support team member replies directly.
- We sort the issue. Is it something we control, such as a confusing form question, or something a lender controls, such as a rate or a verification delay? Both kinds get logged.
- We pass lender issues along. If several reviewers report the same problem with one lender, such as repeated calls after a borrower declined, we raise it with that lender through our partner channel.
- We change our own pages. Feedback like Greg's led us to add a plain reminder on the offer-comparison screen to check for deducted fees. Brian's review led us to move the lender-contact notice higher on the form so fewer people miss it.
What we will not do is delete a bad review because it hurts the average, or contact a reviewer to ask them to raise their score. If a review contains a factual error about Probably Funding, we may post a short, polite reply underneath with the correction, but the original stays up.
What reviews cannot tell you about your own request
A strong rating says the process tends to be clear and quick; it says nothing about whether a particular lender will approve you, what APR you will see, or how fast your specific bank will post a deposit.
Every personal loan lender reviews credit, income and existing debt using its own rules. Some reviewers on this page received several offers, others received one, and some people who rated us never received an offer at all. The representative APR range of 5.99% to 35.99% is an estimate, and your actual rate depends on the lender and your profile. As a reference, a $2,000 personal loan over 12 months at 23% APR runs about $188 a month and roughly $258 in total interest, again an estimate.
Reviews also cannot show what we can see behind the scenes, which is very little. Once your Probably Funding request goes to a lender, that lender's decision process is private to them. Our support team can explain how the service works and help with form problems, but we cannot see why a lender declined you or change its terms. The lender's adverse action notice, if you receive one, is the right place to find the reasons. Anyone counting on fast personal loan funding should also know that bank cutoff times, weekends and holidays can add a day that no review can predict.
Leaving a Probably Funding review and next steps
If you have submitted a request, you will get a review invitation by email; if you missed it, you can contact us and we will send a fresh link.
Your review helps the next person decide, so specifics are welcome: the personal loan amount you asked for, what the money covered, how long each step took and anything that surprised you. Mention drawbacks too. A review that says "the fee was easy to miss" is more useful to a future borrower than one that just says "great."
If you have not used the service yet and are weighing up personal loans in general, the best next step is to read our frequently asked questions, check the eligibility page, and then decide whether a personal loan is the right tool at all. Personal loans are not always the answer, either. Some people searching for probably fundings or Probably Funding loans find that a payment plan with their vet or contractor is a better fit, and we would rather you choose the cheaper option. When you are ready, the Probably Funding apply online form takes a few minutes, costs nothing and never obligates you to accept an offer. A probably funding personal loan request is simply a way to see what participating lenders might offer; approval is never promised, and you can close every offer and walk away.
