We are not a lender
Probably Funding is a free online matching service that connects consumers with participating lenders; we do not make loans, make credit decisions or broker loans on your behalf.
When you complete our request form, we pass the information you provide to one or more lenders or lending partners in our network. Those lenders decide, entirely on their own, whether to extend an offer and on what terms. Any loan you accept is an agreement between you and that lender. Probably Funding is not a party to the loan agreement, does not service the loan and does not collect payments. We do not charge you any fee for using the service.
How we are compensated
We are paid by lenders and marketing partners, not by you; that compensation is how we keep the service free.
Lenders and partners in our network may pay us when you submit a request that they receive, when you are shown an offer, when you click through to a lender's site, or when a loan is funded. The amount varies by partner, by product and by the type of event. Some partners pay more than others. We may also be paid by partners that offer related products, such as credit monitoring or debt relief services, if you choose to view those offers.
How compensation may affect which offers appear
Compensation can influence which lenders receive your request, the order in which offers appear and whether a particular offer is shown at all.
Our system considers the information you enter, such as amount, state, credit range and income, together with each lender's own lending criteria and the terms of our agreements with them. Where more than one lender may be interested in a request, commercial arrangements can affect the sequence in which your request is sent or offers are displayed. Placement is not a ranking of quality or cost. We encourage you to compare the APR, fees and total cost of every offer you see rather than relying on its position on the page.
Not all lenders or products are shown
Our network does not include every lender or loan product available in the market, and you may find better terms elsewhere.
Many banks, credit unions and online lenders do not participate in our network. Credit unions in particular may offer small-dollar loans at lower rates to their members. Before accepting any offer, it is reasonable to check with your own bank or credit union and to consider alternatives such as a payment plan with the provider you owe. Our compare lenders page describes some options, but it is not a complete survey of the market.
Representative APR and example
Participating lenders offer loans from $500 to $5,000 with terms of about 3 to 36 months and APRs that may range from 5.99% to 35.99%; these figures are estimates and your terms may differ.
The APR, or annual percentage rate, reflects the yearly cost of the loan including interest and certain fees such as an origination fee. Your actual APR, amount and term depend on the lender, your credit history, income, debt, state of residence and other factors. Some lenders may offer rates outside the representative range where permitted by law, and some borrowers will not qualify for the lowest rates.
Representative example: a $2,000 loan repaid over 12 months at 23% APR would have monthly payments of about $188 and total interest of about $258, for a total repayment of roughly $2,258. This is an estimate for illustration only and is not an offer of credit. Late payments, missed payments or other fees charged by the lender may increase your cost.
State availability
Lender participation, loan amounts, rates and terms vary by state, and our service is not available in every state.
Lenders must hold the licenses required by the states where they lend, and many states set limits on rates, fees and loan sizes. As a result, the number of lenders who may review your request, and the terms they can offer, depend on where you live. Residents of some states may receive fewer offers or none at all.
Credit checks
Lenders review credit; submitting a request may lead participating lenders to check your credit history with one or more consumer reporting agencies.
Many lenders begin with a soft inquiry, which does not affect your credit score, to decide whether to present a prequalified offer. If you accept an offer and continue with a lender's full application, that lender will usually perform a hard inquiry, which may affect your credit score. Lenders may also verify your identity, income and bank account using third-party data sources. Probably Funding does not perform credit checks itself. See our glossary for the difference between inquiry types.
Not a commitment to lend
Submitting a request is not an application for credit with Probably Funding and is not a commitment by any lender to make you a loan.
An offer is likely for many people, but approval is never promised. A prequalified offer may change or be withdrawn after the lender verifies your information. Funding times depend on the lender, verification and your bank, and are not controlled by us. You are never obligated to accept an offer, and you may close any offer without cost. Questions about this disclosure can be sent through our contact page.
